Century Local Council
CENTURY views a customer (which may be a rate payer, a business lessee, a Government department, a Committee or members of a Committee, a visitor or any other entity that has a relationship with Council) as a single entity, and therefore a customer is recorded only once within the database. The many different views of the customers’ relationships with council may then be accessed utilising the inherent power of the relational database. This provides Council with great flexibility in the management of information and provides ease of analysis and reporting.
CENTURY embraces the principle that data is handled and stored once only. Wherever appropriate, transactions are entered into the database at the time of the initial interaction with the customer. For example a receipting transaction for a building application fee initiates the application, creates the application file in the records system and also creates the accounting and banking transaction. By capturing the data at the source of the transaction the integrity of the database is preserved while also promoting Council's image as a customer-focused organisation.
